Mandeville Bible Church

We are a Bible Church. Our motto is: “Where God’s Word Is Our Foundation.” We are dedicated to the expository preaching and teaching of the Bible, and to being “doers of the word, and not merely hearers” (James 1:22). Our ultimate priority, however, is not studying the Bible, but rather worshiping God. We give ourselves to the study and the application of the Bible, not for the sake of simply knowing the Bible, but for the sake of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ, who is revealed throughout the pages of Scripture. “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:36). You are invited to come worship with us on Sunday mornings. We are located in Old Mandeville, just two blocks from Lake Pontchartrain.

2024-09-08 Silence False Teachersby Pastor Chris BergScripture Reference: Titus 1:10-1610 For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. 12 One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

2024-08-25 Proclaim The Good News!by Pastor Chris BergScripture Reference: Titus 1:1-41 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began 3 and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior;4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith:Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

2024-08-18 The Victorious Lifeby Pastor Chris Berg Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 15:50-5850 I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:“Death is swallowed up in victory.”55 “O death, where is your victory?    O death, where is your sting?”56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

2024-08-11 The Cruel Crossby Steve HudsonScripture Reference: John 3:14-17 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, somust the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone whobelieves will have eternal life in Him. For God so loved theworld, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believesin Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did notsend the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that theworld might be saved through Him.

2024-08-04 Faith, Finallyby Pastor Chris Berg Scripture Reference: Habakkuk 3:1-191 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to Shigionoth.2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,    and your work, O Lord, do I fear.In the midst of the years revive it;    in the midst of the years make it known;    in wrath remember mercy.3 God came from Teman,    and the Holy One from Mount Paran. SelahHis splendor covered the heavens,    and the earth was full of his praise.4 His brightness was like the light;    rays flashed from his hand;    and there he veiled his power.5 Before him went pestilence,    and plague followed at his heels.[a]6 He stood and measured the earth;    he looked and shook the nations;then the eternal mountains were scattered;    the everlasting hills sank low.    His were the everlasting ways.7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction;    the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.8 Was your wrath against the rivers, O Lord?    Was your anger against the rivers,    or your indignation against the sea, when you rode on your horses,    on your chariot of salvation?9 You stripped the sheath from your bow,    calling for many arrows.[b] Selah    You split the earth with rivers.10 The mountains saw you and writhed;    the raging waters swept on;the deep gave forth its voice;    it lifted its hands on high.11 The sun and moon stood still in their place    at the light of your arrows as they sped,    at the flash of your glittering spear.12 You marched through the earth in fury;    you threshed the nations in anger.13 You went out for the salvation of your people,    for the salvation of your anointed. You crushed the head of the house of the wicked,    laying him bare from thigh to neck.[c] Selah14 You pierced with his own arrows the heads of his warriors,    who came like a whirlwind to scatter me,    rejoicing as if to devour the poor in secret.15 You trampled the sea with your horses,    the surging of mighty waters.16 I hear, and my body trembles;    my lips quiver at the sound;rottenness enters into my bones;    my legs tremble beneath me.Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble    to come upon people who invade us.17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,    nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail    and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold    and there be no herd in the stalls,18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;    I will take joy in the God of my salvation.19 God, the Lord, is my strength;    he makes my feet like the deer's;    he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed[d] instruments.English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version.  2024-07-21 A Frustrated Prophetby Pastor Chris BergScripture Reference: Habakkuk 1:1-171 This is the message that the prophet Habakkuk received in a vision.2 How long, O Lord, must I call for help?    But you do not listen!“Violence is everywhere!” I cry,    but you do not come to save.3 Must I forever see these evil deeds?    Why must I watch all this misery?Wherever I look,    I see destruction and violence.I am surrounded by people    who love to argue and fight.4 The law has become paralyzed,    and there is no justice in the courts. The wicked far outnumber the righteous,    so that justice has become perverted.5 The Lord replied,“Look around at the nations;    look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day,    something you wouldn’t believe    even if someone told you about it.6 I am raising up the Babylonians,    a cruel and violent people. They will march across the world    and conquer other lands.7 They are notorious for their cruelty    and do whatever they like.8 Their horses are swifter than cheetahs    and fiercer than wolves at dusk.Their charioteers charge from far away.    Like eagles, they swoop down to devour their prey.9 “On they come, all bent on violence.    Their hordes advance like a desert wind,    sweeping captives ahead of them like sand.10 They scoff at kings and princes    and scorn all their fortresses. They simply pile ramps of earth    against their walls and capture them!11 They sweep past like the wind    and are gone. But they are deeply guilty,    for their own strength is their god.”12 O Lord my God, my Holy One, you who are eternal—    surely you do not plan to wipe us out?O Lord, our Rock, you have sent these Babylonians to correct us,    to punish us for our many sins.13 But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil.    Will you wink at their treachery?Should you be silent while the wicked    swallow up people more righteous than they?14 Are we only fish to be caught and killed?    Are we only sea creatures that have no leader?15 Must we be strung up on their hooks    and caught in their nets while they rejoice and celebrate?16 Then they will worship their nets    and burn incense in front of them.“These nets are the gods who have made us rich!”    they will claim.17 Will you let them get away with this forever?    Will they succeed forever in their heartless conquests?

2024-07-07 Avoid the Detour to Idolatryby Pastor Chris BergScripture: 1 John 5:18-2118 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

2024-06-30 Let There Be Lightby Shane O'HaraScripture: Genesis 1:1-31  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep.    And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. 2024-06-16 Avoid the Detour of Discounting God’s Testimonyby Pastor Chris BergScripture Reference: 1 John 5:6-126 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Where God’s Word Is Our Foundation

You are invited to come worship with us on Sunday mornings.

We are located in Old Mandeville, just two blocks from Lake Pontchartrain.

We are a group of believers who hold to the historical faith, and who believe that the Bible teaches certain basic truths, including:

  • The virgin birth of Christ
  • The full deity and humanity of Christ
  • The substitutionary atonement and bodily resurrection of Christ
  • The physical return of Christ
  • The spiritual lostness of the human race
  • Salvation by faith alone in Christ alone
  • The inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture

We are an independent, elder-led church. We are not affiliated with any denomination, and we are governed by our own by-laws.
